UNIFIL Had Informed Lebanese Army about Ruwais Car Bomb

Lebanese army intelligence received two consecutive secret messages from UNIFIL command on August 12 and 14, including intelligence information about a car bomb plot, including Ruwais detonation, according to al-Akhbar newspaper.

UNIFIL gathered the information from reports made by the embassies of the states that participate in the international force, the newspaper mentioned.

"The security services reported that UNIFIL troops are seriously threatened by al-Nusra Front which inserted a number of car bombs from Syria to Lebanon," the newspaper added.

unifilThe Lebanese daily revealed the two secret messages were sent short time before Ruwais explosion and revealed that the gray BMW had been driven by the Syrian Mohammad Jassem Kaaroune from Syria to Lebanon via Arsal before it exploded in Ruwais.

"UNIFIL reported, in the first message, also many other cars are parked in different Lebanese areas and processed to be detonated by the terrorist groups."
"The second message included also information about a group of two Syrians and one Libyan planning to carry out terrorist attacks by the end of this month."

"The information gathered further confirm that the Lebanese army and UNIFIL are both concerned al-Nusra Front threats," al-Akhbar pointed out.
