An engineering student in the United Kingdom said he left his studies behind and went to join in the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant jihad because he felt the pull of his Muslim faith — and he’s never been happier, according to the Washington Times.ISIL terrorism

Abdul Raqib Amin was studying engineering at an Aberdeen, Scotland, facility when he switched tracks and cut a recruitment video for ISIL, NBC News reported. The British citizen now says in an interview with ITV News that aired Monday that while he misses his parents, he’s at peace with his decision to drop out of school and become a terrorist.

“I’m going to stay and fight until the Khilafah [rule of Islam] is established, or I die,’ he said on “Good Morning Britain.” “One of the happiest moments of my life was when the plane took off from [London’s] Gatwick Airport. I was so happy, because as a Muslim, you cannot live in the country of Kuffars [disbelievers.]”

Terrorism experts have been warning in recent weeks of the seeming draw of ISIL to youth, and that many in Western nations may make the trip to Iraq or Syria to join in the terrorism.
