Samar Hajj: Rafiq Hariri Didn’t Trust Saniora, Saad Involved in Crime

Samar Hajj told Al-Manar Website that "no one can hurt the resistance fighters... this is not the way to reward them for their sacrifices."

Samar Hajj to Al-Manar Website:
Hariri Doesn’t Seek Truth in His Father’s Murder;
Saniora First Beneficiary of Hariri Murder;
No One Can Hurt the Resistance;
Hariri Abandoned Everything to Remain in Power;
Let Bellemare, Fransen, Riachi Come and Arrest Us;
Who Killed Wissam Eid and WHY?

Mrs. Samar Hajj said that the release of the indictment in the assassination of former Prime Minister Rafiq Hariri case undermined the people’s intelligence, and noted that the indictment’s content was similar to the confession of Group 13 but with different names. She stressed that resorting to wrong evidence and to false telecommunications was really miserable.

In an exclusive interview with Al-Manar Website, Hajj ruled out the possibility that the indictment release could have on ground repercussions. She said she didn’t acknowledge such an illegal and unconstitutional tribunal, and stressed that no one can even slightly hurt the resistance fighters.

Hajj addressed former Prime Minister Saad Hariri, wondering whether he was really seeking the truth in his father’s assassination case. She reminded him that he accepted to abandon everything in order to remain in power and prevent his close associates from being held accountable. She indicated that his statements make him involved even more in the crime.

While raising question marks over the identity of the killers of Wissam Eid, Hajj warned that the country could not rise again as long as conspirators are still operating.

NOT A COINCIDENCE

Mrs. Samar Hajj told Al-Manar Website that the release of the indictment in the assassination case of former PM Rafiq Hariri’s constituted another evidence of what she called “the logic of undermining the people’s intelligence”. She pointed to the confessions of Group 13, published earlier by Lebanese daily Al-Akhbar concerning their involvement in the murder. She remarked that the content of their confessions was the same as the indictment’s content with only one difference: the names of the suspects.

While noting that the investigation’s developments constitute the “scandal” of the century, she stressed that it was not a coincidence that the indictment be released the same day Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hasan Nasrallah was expected to deliver a speech. “Just like the indictment was released while the government was finalizing its policy statement, its content was released in the day in which Sayyed Nasrallah would deliver a speech,” she highlighted.

Hajj stressed that all these developments serve the interest of the Americans and Zionists, and wondered in this context why the Israeli hypothesis was ruled out since the first moment. “This is evidence that this tribunal was a Zionist one all along,” she pointed out.

WRONG EVIDENCE

Answering a question about Pre-Trial Judge Daniel Fransen’s statement that “the suspect remains innocent until further notification”, Hajj thanked him for acknowledging such a basic right. “STL Deputy President Ralf Riachi has even deprived us from this fundamental right at an earlier stage,” she recalled.

Mrs. Hajj pointed to the telecommunications issue as wrong evidence. She noted that who fabricated the witnesses is now resorting to the false evidence. She stressed that resorting to wrong evidence like the false telecommunications was really miserable. “We can’t forget that Marwan Hamade, who was involved in the false witnesses’ conspiracy, was the Telecoms Minister at the time,” she emphasized.

Yet, Hajj stressed that no one can hurt the Resistance fighters. “It is not this way that we reward them for their sacrifices,” she stressed.  “Those cannot represent Rafiq Hariri, the man who showed a high level of eternal enmity towards Israel,” she added.

IF HARIRI WAS NOT KILLED, SANIORA WOULD HAVE REMAINED STATE MINISTER!

Answering a question, Mrs. Hajj ruled out any repercussions of the indictment release. “We don’t acknowledge this tribunal, and we consider it illegal and unconstitutional,” she said, as she noted that the STL was created under Chapter 7, without getting the approval of the President of the State, as stipulated by the Constitution.

While she held former PM Fouad Saniora responsible for this violation, she said Saniora was the first beneficiary of Hariri’s assassination. “If Rafiq Hariri was not killed, Fouad Saniora would have remained a state minister throughout his life, due to Hariri’s lack of trust in Saniora.”

Hajj commented on the statement issued by former Prime Minister Saad Hariri in the light of the release of the indictment. “Do you really seek the truth behind the assassination of your father?” Hajj asked Hariri. “You abandoned everything to remain in power and to prevent holding your associates accountable. You seek power, not truth,” she said, addressing Hariri.

“Your father is being assassinated again every day,” she went on to say. “In light of your statements, we can even say that you are involved.”

WHO KILLED WISSAM EID AND WHY?

Mrs. Samar Hajj stressed that all the developments in the region were related to each other. She said that she cannot separate the tribunal’s developments for instance from the current developments in Syria. She said that what wasn’t attained by the July war will not be attained by the detention of the officers or the creation of the tribunal or even through playing with fire in Syria. “They are not playing their last card,” she said.

Hajj wondered in this context why Wissam Eid was killed, noting that he was working on the telecoms issue. “Wissam Eid is not their martyr as they claim. He’s the martyr of the right. He uncovered a point that they did not want him to reach, so they killed him”

She pointed finally to the Der Spiegel leaks about Iranian and Syrian involvement in Hariri’s murder. “We will not find it strange if they accuse us again of involvement. We’re waiting for Bellemare, Fransen and Riachi and their United Nations to come and arrest us. But let them set an appointment for us so that we can coordinate our time.”
