Our Great Martyrs…Hallmark of Victory: Akef Al-Moussawi (Video)

Sayyed Akef: I cannot find a pleasure greater than struggling against the Zionist enemy, the enemy of Allah and humanity, and I will not rest before fulfilling my duty to fight and defeat it.

Martyr Sayyed Akef Hussein Al-Moussawi

Sayyed Akef Hussein Al-Moussawi was born on the 9th of August, 1975 in the Nabi Sheith village in Beqaa.

His family was a religious, sociable, and highly educated one that believed in jihad and live according to it.

After completing the intermediate level in school, he joined the Hawza (Islamic School) for advanced Islamic studies.

Martyr Akef had passion to Allah since he was a young boy; this was apparent in his prayers since he was eight-years-old.

Despite the cold weather in the Beqaa during winter time, young Ali used to wake up at midnight to perform the Night Prayer (Salat Al-Lail), and in the morning, he used to get dressed and go to pray the Morning Prayer at the shrine of Nabi Sheith.

Sayyed Akef joined the Islamic Resistance shortly after his brother “Adel” was martyred in the “Maidoun” operation in 1988.

He joined Imam Mahdi Scouts, then was transferred to the field of jihad when he was 16-years-old.

He underwent various military courses that qualified him to take part in various operations.

In the battlefield:

In July 2006, Sayyed Akef bid farewell to his family, wife, and child, and entrusted them to stay patient and firm during war and if calamities befell them, and headed towards Ainatha.

On the 30th of July, Sayyed Akef was martyred in Ainatha along with a group of resistance fighters.

During the battle, Akef was with four other fighters when they conducted an operation against the occupation soldiers, killing many and forcing the others to pull back leaving behind the bodies of their dead and injured soldiers for two complete days.

The enemy further left behind the military supplies of 24 soldiers, including M15 machine guns and an A2 machine gun that belonged to the brigade chief who was killed in the clashes.

The enemy acknowledged that 19 soldiers were killed, and 37 other were injured during that operation.

Before the family received the news about Sayyed Akef’s martyrdom, his father said that he woke up to perform the Night Prayer as he usually does. When he looked at his watch, he saw that it was broken, and so he knew that at that moment his son was martyred.

The martyr’s body was moved out of the battlefield after the war was over, after his body remained there for 18 days.
Marty Akef Al-Moussawi’s body was moved to his village Nabi sheith where he was buried on the 18th of August, 2006.
