Lebanese former minister Adnan Sayyed Hussein says the path of the court has not been solid since the beginning. He points to an essential remark in the recently released indictment, saying it accuses Hezbollah of terrorism and that such accusation signals politicization. The minister also stresses the resistance will remain above all kinds of accusations.

In an exclusive interview with Al-Manar Website, Minister Sayyed Hussein said that the judicial study of the indictment, presented by the head of the Loyalty to the Resistance parliamentary bloc MP Mohamad Raad and Judge Salim Jreissati, was professional. He wished the tribunal would deal with the submitted remarks with care, and warned that politicization “does neither serve justice nor lead to truth”.

While noting that Libya developments became connected to foreign interference, he expressed hope Lebanese would be able to discover the fate of Imam Sayyed Mussa Sadr and his two companions following three decades of injustice.

POLITICIZATION DOES NOT SERVE JUSTICE
Minister Adnan Sayyed Hussein told Al-Manar Website that the path of the tribunal was not firm since its early launch, under President Emil Lahoud. He recalled that President Lahoud has put 14 remarks over the Special Tribunal for Lebanon’s system. He pointed to additional remarks over the recently released indictment, mainly those presented by Judge Salim Jreissati, which were legal remarks that enjoyed a high level of professionalism.

While expressing hope the tribunal would positively deal with the submitted remarks and warning that politicization “does neither serve justice nor lead to truth”, Sayyed Hussein urged Lebanese to show unity, consciousness and nationalism to prevent sedition and division schemes.

Sayyed Hussein also assured there has been some kind of politicization in the indictment, where it claimed that Hezbollah was accused of terrorism. “This is a proof of politicization, not professionalism and accuracy,” he said.

RESISTANCE ABOVE ACCUSATIONS
Answering a question over the other bloc’s support to the indictment despite all evidences presented by resistance, and especially the claims of Lebanese Forces chief Samir Geagea’s that the indictment contained more than enough evidence to accuse those who were accused, Sayyed Hussein said that such rhetoric had nothing to do with law. “It is only politics,” he said. “Any party in Lebanon cannot appoint itself a judge, lawyer, and accuser at the same time,” he went on to say.

While renewing his call to keep the investigation file away from politicization and to limit it in its legal framework, he hailed the joint press conference held by MP Raad and Judge Jreissati as the best means to face the indictment’s content.

Answering another question, Sayyed Hussein warned against integrating the Resistance and the assassination of former Prime Minister Rafiq Hariri. “Such integration means the Resistance is accused. However, the Resistance is above all accusations in such a crime, given that the ties between the late premier and Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hasan Nasrallah were good until the last days.”

WE BACK WHATEVER THE LIBYAN PEOPLE WANTS
Turning to the regional developments, Minister Sayyed Hussein pointed out that Libya developments became connected to foreign interference, in addition to its internal causes. He the Arab League to assume its responsibilities in this context
“We back the decision of the Libyan people. We support democracy against tyranny, justice against chaos. However, foreign tutelage on Libya’s security, oil, future is rejected by the Libyan people.”

On the other hand, the ex-minister expressed hope Lebanese would be able to discover the fate of Imam Sayyed Mussa Sadr and his two companions Sheikh Mohamad Yaaqoub and Journalist Abbas Badreddin, following three decades of injustice.

He said that Libya developments could give an opportunity for the government to reach truth in this issue, based on the policy statement of the government. “Truth is a Lebanese and a human demand. We must follow this issue through all possible means,” he said.

Sayyed Hussein added that this issue would also be an Arab responsibility, mainly the responsibility of the Arab League.
