Latin American Leaders Escalate Row over Snowden Plane

Bolivia’s President Evo Morales considered Thursday that the European apologies for rerouting his plane over concerns of harboring US fugitive Edward Snowden are insufficient.

MoralesBolivia's President Evo Morales considered Thursday that the European apologies for rerouting his plane over concerns of harboring US fugitive Edward Snowden are insufficient.

"Some countries apologized, but this is not enough. They said it was an error, yet it was not an error," Morales said.

Denying Morales's plane an access to the airspace of four European countries sparked outrage among Latin American leaders who prepared a joint response.

Presidents Nicolas Maduro of Venezuela, Rafael Correa of Ecuador, Cristina Kirchner of Argentina, Jose Mujica of Uruguay and Desi Bouterse of Suriname are expected to attend the meeting, the Bolivian government said.

According to the Bolivian government, the Latin American Leaders will give their Bolivian counterpart an unconditional support for the unfair aggression by the United States and its allies.

Bolivia has accused France, Italy, Spain, Portugal of denying Morales's jet an access to their airspace over "unfounded rumors" that US fugitive Edward Snowden was aboard.

Bolivian President Evo Morales further threatened of taking a global legal action, saying the international treaties were violated.
