The blast that hit Tuesday the southern suburb of Beirut (Dahiyeh) was widely condemned by the Lebanese political parties and figures as an act aiming at stirring sectarian sedition.
Lebanese President Michel Sleiman condemned the blast, saying that "returning to such actions remind the Lebanese with the black stages which they wish to eliminate from their memories."
President Sleiman called on all the Lebanese parties to resort to the national dialogue and to quit such means for conveying political messages.
"The security of the Lebanese people must be respected."
Sleiman also asked the security services to intensify their investigations so that the criminals be detected.
Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri considered that the blast aims at causing a high death toll and at stirring sedition among the Lebanese.
Caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati denounced Bir Al-Abed blast which returned to memories hard times that the Lebanese suffered from long time ago.
Mikati also called upon all the Lebanese to preserve their national unity.
Lebanese PM-Designate Tammam Salam condemned the "horrible crime" that hit the Beirut's southern suburb, considering that it would stir the seditions in Lebanon. Salam urged all the Lebanese to be aware of the security dangers that threaten all the Lebanese.
MP Ali Ammar, member of Loyalty to Resistance Parliamentary Bloc, inspected the blast scene and condemned the crime.
Ammar considered that the Zionist entity is mainly accused of carrying out this blast since it aims at harming the resistance.
MP Ali Mokdad, also a member of Loyalty to Resistance Parliamentary Bloc, further visited the scene and denounced the blast, asserting that it would not be able to weaken the resistance and its supporters.
A number of caretaker ministers and members of the parliament further condemned the blast and considered that the enemy's role in this blast can be easily identified, stating that all the Lebanese should preserve their national unity so that they frustrate the blast's purposes.
American Ambassador to Lebanon Maura Connelly also condemned the blast, saying that Lebanon's security and stability should be respected.
Former PM Saad Hariri also denounced the attack, saying "this criminal blast in the Southern Suburb of Beirut imposes on all the Lebanese parties to return back to the national dialogue."
Hariri also called for intensified investigations to solve the crime and to drag the perpetrators to justice.
Head of Phalange party Amin Gemayel also condemned the blast and expressed his solidarity with the wounded, hoping for them a speedy recovery.
Gemayel considered that targeting any Lebanese area concern all the Lebanese, stressing the importance of forming new cabinet.
For his part, Marada movement leader MP Suleiman Franjieh denounced the crime and blamed the Lebanese political rhetoric for setting the adequate environment to carry out such blasts.
Head of al-Mustaqbal Parliamentary bloc Fuad Saniora denounced the blast and called on the security services to take the necessary measures to detect the culprits.
Lebanese Democratic Party leader Talal Arslan condemned the blast and considered that the Southern Suburb is paying a heavy price for resisting the Zionist entity.
The Political Bureau of the Communist Party, Nasserite Popular Organization, March 14 General Secretariat, Arab Tawhid Party Lebanese Popular Conference, Arab Trend, Labors League, Beirut Union, and several other political parties condemned the "criminal" blast that targeted the Southern Suburb of Beirut.
Former Regional Secretary of Baath Arab Socialist Party Fayez Shokr in Lebanon condemned the explosion and considered that it targets the Lebanese resistance, asserting that it would fail to debilitate the national stances of the Southern Suburb.
Sayyed Ali Fadlallah, Sheikh Afif Naboulsi, and Sidon Mufti Sheikh Ahmad Nassar condemned the blast that targeted "innocent civilians" and called on preserving the Lebanese national unity.
Assembly of Jabal Amel Scholars strongly condemned Bir Al-Abed blast, accusing the Zionists and the Americans of carrying out such a blast which resembles 1984 Bir Al-Abed blast.
Head of the Maronite Council Wadeih al-Khazen denounced the blast and considered that it is a direct assault against the Lebanese security.
