“Such cowardly acts of violence aim at destabilizing Lebanon and spreading fear among the population and are completely unacceptable," the statement added.
Plumbly urged the Lebanese Leaders to together against such threats to their country’s security and stability.
He finally voiced his hope that the “incident will be thoroughly investigated and the perpetrators brought to justice as soon as possible.”
In turn, France strongly condemned the blast, reiterating its commitment to the stability of Lebanon and its refusal of terrorism, according to the French Foreign Ministry statement.
"Paris called on all Lebanese to avoid an escalation of violence and urged them to preserve national unity," the statement added.
French Foreign Ministry spokesman Philippe Lalliot said his government is concerned with detecting the perpetrators and bringing them to justice.
