"The crossing is closed today, hoping that Egypt reopens it soon," a security source told Agence France Presse on Friday.

Egypt closed last week the crossing after an Egyptian soldier was killed in Sinai.

The Egyptian army heavily deployed on the borders with Gaza in light of the current political crisis.

Watchdogs mentioned that an Egyptian helicopter flew over south Gaza for 30 minutes before returning to Rafah.
