Syria has called on the United Nations to condemn a recent bomb attack carried out by Takfiri militants near Damascus
Syria has called on the United Nations to condemn a recent bomb attack carried out by Takfiri militants near Damascus, where at least seven people died.
In letters to UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon and the UN Security Council, the Syrian Foreign Ministry urged the world body to adopt a clear stance in “rejecting terrorism regardless of the place and time of the crime,” Syria’s official news agency SANA reported on Thursday.
The bomb attack was carried out on Thursday in the Jaramana suburb, southeast Damascus. More than 60 people were also wounded in the bombing.
According to the Syrian ministry, the al-Qaeda-linked Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham (ISIS) has claimed responsibility for the deadly bombing. The group has been labeled by the UN as a terrorist entity.
The foreign ministry further called on the parties who support the extremist groups in Syria to stop supplying them with logistic and military aid.
