Syrian sources told al-Manar that Syrian army made more achievements in Old Homs as its forces advanced in Khaldiyeh and killed dozens of foreign-backed militants fighting the Syrian government.
Al-Manar correspondent in Homs reported that the Syrian army has recaptured Khalid Bin al-Walid Mosque in Khaldiyeh neighborhood.
He added that militants targeted Homs oil refinery with mortar shells leading to great damage.
For its part, the so-called Syrian Observatory for Human Rights confirmed the event, as it said that government troops now controlled most of Khaldiyeh where they seized Khalid Bin al-Walid mosque and concentrated on fighting militants on the outskirts of the district.
The fall of Homs, dubbed by armed groups "the capital of the revolution", would be a major government victory as Syria's third city is a key route linking Damascus to the coast.
On the other hand, our correspondent in Aleppo reported that the Syrian armed forces arrested militants who were committing crimes against Syrian people in Safira area.
Meanwhile in Idlib, the correspondent said that the Syrian army targeted gatherings for Nusra Front in Idlib countryside’s towns of Maghara and Saraqeb.
The attack killed huge number of Nusra militants as it destroyed their vehicles.
