Official National news agency reported the death toll, adding the incident took place near the headquarters of an-Nahar newspaper.

Earlier, local media outlets reported a loud blast was heard at the location, as cameras of OTV television captured the scene of several cars that went up in flames at a parking lot.

Firefighting vehicles quickly scrambled to the scene from the nearby headquarters of the Beirut Fire Department and started dousing the flames, the agency added.
