An Egyptian was killed while a Syrian and another Egyptian were gravely wounded Sunday when explosive devices they were preparing detonated at a house in Mount Lebanon's Iqlim al-Kharroub's town of Daraya.
Security sources identified the man who died as Egyptian national Mohammad Ahmad Abdul Latif al-Dakhakhni. His brother Abdel-Latif is in critical condition while Syrian national Mohammad Hasan Massoud also suffered serious wounds.
Reports said the incident took place near Ahmed Basbous mosque in Daraya.
Internal Security Forces personnel and Army Intelligence arrived at the scene of the explosion and discovered that the basement of the house was full of improvised explosive devices.
Al-Jadeed television revealed that up to 18 explosives ready to be set up were discovered in the same house. Quoting security sources, it said the army found maps of three targets in three areas, Jadra Wadi Zeina, Hadath and Saadiyat.
The owner of the house, Egyptian national Ahmad al-Dakhakhni was arrested along with his two sons and a Syrian. An underground room was discovered containing tens of bombs and explosives.
Investigations will focus on whether there are links between those involved in the Daraya incident and Salafist groups.
