Lebanese President Michel Sleiman reiterated Wednesday his call for dissociating Lebanon from the Syrian crisis and urged all the local political factions to keep the country away from the repercussions of the situation in Syria.

He also called for “commitment to the obligations that serve the national interest such as preserving security and stability, protecting civil peace and achievinBerrig national consensus."

For his part, Lebanese Speaker Nabih Berri called on the Lebanese political parties to refrain from exploiting the developments in Syria to achieve local political gains.

Berri further considered that striking Syria aims at serving the Israeli interests in the Middle East.

Caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati, in turn, rejected the calls for holding emergent cabinet sessions to discuss the threats against Syria, saying that holding such sessions markets for the strikes.

"We hope that the 'expected' strikes against Syria do not occur," Mikati stated.
