Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has warned on Monday against plots hatched by arrogant powers with the purpose of wanting to create tension between Iran and Arabs, urging regional nations to remain vigilant.

“America is trying to sow discord among Shiites and Sunnis ... they want to create tension between Iran and Arabs ... but their plan will fail,” the Iranian president said in a ceremony marking the national Army Day, where the military displayed a range of home-built drones and missiles.

He added that enemies are making efforts to reinforce their evil pillars in the region and pointed out, “By God's grace, Iranians and other regional nations are vigilant. All nations in the region need to remain vigilant.”

Ahmadinejad emphasized in a speech broadcast live on state television that a new Middle East region would take shape without the presence of the United States and Israel, stressing, “The era of Zionism and capitalism is over.” “The US is not an honest friend because it has always betrayed its friends. However, Iran is a true friend of all nations,” President Ahmadinejad added. 

“They are seeking a new Middle East. Sure, the people of the region want a new one too, but a new Middle East without the dominance of America and without the Zionist regime which with God's divine grace will materialise,” he said.
