The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Grand Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei stressed Thursday that the U.S. is committing a mistake regarding the Syrian crisis and that it will face the strike due to its aggression and will pay a price if it attacks the Arab country.
In a meeting with the head and members of the Assembly of Experts, Ayatollah Khamenei said that global arrogance seeks to dominate the entire region in line with the policies dictated by the Zionist regime.
"The Americans are now preparing grounds to attack Syria under pretext of the Syrian governments alleged use of chemical weapons in a bid to imply that they care about humanity," added the Supreme Leader.
"They pretend they care about humanitarian issues whereas the Guantanamo Bay detention camp, Abu Ghraib prison, their ignorance of Saddam Hussein's use of chemical weapons against Iraqi Kurds and Iranian cities, their silence on carnage of innocent people in Afghanistan, Pakistan and Iraq proved otherwise," Ayatollah Khamenei pointed out.
Grand Ayatollah indicated that "The waves of Islamic Awakening have arisen from this region despite the will of the global arrogance in the region," noting that 'Awakening' is not a transient event.
"It is wrong to think that Islamic Awakening has subsided because it is not only a political event but also manifestation of self-reliance and relying on Islam among Islamic societies."
"After thirty years, the Islamic Republic of Iran has successfully overcome all hostile moves and plots by the enemies and is now very powerful in terms of its influences and capabilities, the Supreme Leader stressed.
"Late Imam Khomeini believed the Zionist regime was a cancerous tumor which should be removed and never compromised his stance," the Supreme Leader underlined.
Ayatollah Khamenei also warned of enemy plots to make a rift between Sunnis and Shiites Muslims in Islamic countries.
"Grand clerics from both Sunni and Shia schools of thought should be vigilant not to let enemies attain their sinister goals," Ayatollah Khamenei concluded.
