Iran's Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani said support for regional popular revolutions, especially for the uprising of people of Bahrain, is an “Islamic obligation”, while considering the stand adopted by the global powers toward the regional developments as deceitful and hypocritical.

In a meeting with the former Iraqi premier Ebrahim Jafari on Monday, Larijani mentioned the regional developments and underlined that all opportunities should be put in use for defending and safeguarding the regional popular movements, IRIB reported.

Larijani expressed hope for reinforcement of bilateral ties between Iran and Iraq, while reminding that parliamentary cooperation highly contributes to promotion of ties and resolution of problems.

For his part, the former Iraqi premier attached importance to expansion and development of fraternal mutual cooperation, while reiterating that the Iraqi administration and nation calls for promotion of amicable bilateral relations in all fields.
