Israeli Channel 10 reported details on the new plan adopted by the army, which considered the regime change in Egypt and assumed confrontations in 2011.

The Israeli TV Channel 10 reported details on the new plan adopted by the Israeli army for the coming five years.

The new military plan “Halmish” that will replace plan “Tefen” demonstrates the various threatening fronts that Israel faces, in addition to developing the army’s military power.

Channel 10 pointed out that “the plan summarizes Israel’s current strategic location in the Middle East among the occurring regional disorder,” specifying on Egypt’s regime change and its affect on the Israeli army and its structure.

“The plan assumed a state of distrust with Egypt, where Sinai is considered an actual problem,” the Zionist channel indicated. However, it pointed out that “no major changes would be made due to these developments".

Channel 10 quoted "senior security sources" saying that, “the threats that Israel would be facing in the coming few years originate from Iran, followed by Hizbollah, Syria, and Hamas in the Gaza Strip.”

\
“The Northern front (Syria and Hizbollah) is considered the major one, and the plan was made on these bases,” the sources stated.

The sources also told Channel 10 that “the plan takes into consioderation a likely escalation in security threats against Israel and assumes there would be confrontations on multiple fronts in 2011,” pointing out that “the army will draw a new plan in 2012 that aims at developing defenses for the major military infrastructure that might face future attacks from countries like Iran.”
