The General Directorate of General Security in Lebanon arrested three people of Lebanese and Syrian nationalities belonging to a terrorist network.

The General Directorate of General Security in Lebanon arrested three people of Lebanese and Syrian nationalities belonging to a terrorist network that was planning to carry out acts of sabotage and destabilizing security in Lebanon through bomb attacks and assassination attempts.

“The detainees were interrogated and referred to the military judiciary together with the seized material, which include explosives, communication devices and silenced weapons,” a General Security statement said Tuesday.

The directorate stressed that it “will not hesitate to pursue terrorist groups, subversive gangs and illegal emigration networks -- in coordination with the state security agencies – in order to preserve the safety of citizens and the security and stability of the country.”

The arrest follows a wave of arrests by the Lebanese security services in the wake of four deadly bombings that rocked Lebanon – two in Beirut's southern suburbs (al-Dahiyeh) and two in Tripoli, leaving dozens killed and hundreds wounded.
