The British Daily Mirror newspaper revealed that the UK government approved on exporting 'dangerous' military items to 'authoritarian regimes', including Egypt and Saudi Arabia, Russian Today website reported Wednesday.
Daily Mirror pointed out that the list of licenses, granted by the government since 2010 to export 5 thousand items subjected to state control, includes a request from Egypt to buy about two thousand combat shotgun. The government approved the request in May 2013.
The British exports to Saudi Arabia, authorized by London, include chemical agents of deuterium that can be used to produce nuclear weapons. UK also agreed to supply Riyadh with CS combat gas and special devices for using poison gas, in addition to a batch of hand grenades.
Daily Mirror also noted that the government has authorized selling a range of hazardous materials to Turkey, whose dealings with the recent protests raised severe criticism across the world.
"Among the licensed exports to Turkey, there are spare parts for drones and bombs and missile parts," the UK daily elaborated.
