The Bahraini regime police used buckshot, sound grenades and tear gas on Saturday to disperse hundreds of protesters trying to march on a square in Manama, witnesses said.
The demonstrators were trying to reach Pearl Square, the focus of 2011 protests, after the funeral of a detainee who died in hospital in the capital on Friday.
The witnesses said several protesters were injured by the regime forces, although they were unable to give a specific number.
Demonstrators chanted slogans that denounce the repressive practices of the regime.
The Bahraini opposition continues to demonstrate in villages outside the capital, despite all the forms of oppression which is being carried out by the regime forces and militias.
