After detecting a car bomb in the southern suburb of Beirut (Dahiyeh) on Monday, the Lebanese army issued today a statement in which it clarified all the related details.
A Grand Cherokee vehicle, laden with 50 kilos of high explosives, 3 anti-tank mines, 6 cluster bombs-all wired to 20 kilograms of Aluminum nitrate, sulphur with multiple detonators spread about many places inside the car has been uncovered in Maamoura in the southern suburb of Beirut and safely dismantled by army sappers yesterday, Yarzeh-based Army Command-Guidance Department spokesperson announced today.
Upon investigation, it became clear that the Cherokee car changed hands many times before it was set as a booby trap due to go up and maximize damage and casualties. A special magistrate is currently in charge of the case pending the arrest and prosecution of those involved in the murderous act, the same spokesperson concluded.
Army command on their hand, urged citizens all over the country to report any suspicious vehicle for their own wellbeing and for the sake of public safety.
