Brahimi visited President Michel Sleiman and tackled at the presidential palace in Baabda the atmosphere of contacts and consultations he held in his recent tour aimed to find a solution to the Syrian crisis.
The international envoy also visited Speaker Nabih Berri at Ain-el-Tineh and dwelled on the impending Geneva II conference.
Berri told reporters following the meeting, "It was a useful meeting. We focused on the necessity to make of Geneva II a success and we also highlighted the necessity of inviting Lebanon to attend the conference."
For his part, Brahimi said he was now in Lebanon within the frame of the visits he was undertaking in the name of the United Nations to prepare for Geneva II conference.
"Truth is that Lebanon is saddled with too many burdens following the drastic situation in Syria. And we, in the name of the UN, thank Lebanon for the role it is assuming," he said.
Lakhdar Brahimi further discussed Geneva II with caretaker PM Najib Mikati.
Brahimi asserted that all the Lebanese senior officials tend to attend Geneva II.
