Ayatollah Sheikh Issa Qassem said Friday that what the regime in Bahrain hopes Geneva II on Syria reaches identifies with the aspirations of the Bahrainis.

"If the regime supports democracy and reform in Syria and in other Arab countries, it must back it in Bahrain," he added.

Sheikh Qassem asserted that all the regime's practices and violations are doomed to failure.

He also denounced the regime's aggression against Ashura ceremonies and considered that it instigates the sectarian tensions.

"Ashura must be marked by all the Muslims to avoid a new experience of religious forging."
