A high-level Syrian delegation is to travel to Russia on Monday to discuss holding peace conference on Syria. Meanwhile, Russia denied it had agreed with the US on a date for Geneva 2 conference.
A Syrian official said a high-level Damascus team would travel to Moscow on Monday to meet Russian officials in a bid to "finalize the details of the peace conference due to be held in Geneva".
The delegation would include presidential adviser Buthaina Shaaban, Deputy Foreign Minister Faisal Meqdad and Ahmad Arnous, the foreign ministry's senior official on European affairs.
On the other hand, Russia denied media reports saying that Moscow and Washington have agreed on a date for peace conference on Syria, Geneva 2.
"The date of the international conference on Syria would be fixed by the UN Secretary General," a statement by the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
Earlier on Thursday, Syrian daily al-Watan reported that an agreement was reached between Russian and US foreign ministers, Sergey Lavrov and John Kerry to hold Geneva 2 conference on December 12th.
"A preliminary meeting would held to put a framework for the conference with the participation of the UN envoy to Syria Lakhdar Brahimi and representatives of Russia and the US on the level of deputy foreign ministers on November 25th," Russia Today TV website quoted the Russian Foreign Ministry statement as saying.
