A university professor and his driver were shot dead in Pakistan on Tuesday amid a continuing wave of sectarian violence, Reuters said.
Sayyed Shabbir Hussain Shah, the director of student services at the University of Gujrat, was on his way to work when gunmen on a motorcycle fired on his car and sped off.
A note found at the scene read that it was “retaliation for Rawalpindi,” a reference to the clashes over the weekend in which eight people were killed.
It was signed “Lashkar-e-Jhangvi,” a name for a banned group linked to extremists.
