The US has told Pakistan that there will be no drone strikes while peace talks with the Taliban are underway, according to Pakistan’s top security officer who spoke to the Indo-Asian News Service.
Pakistan’s PM adviser of foreign affairs, Sartaj Aziz, told the Senate Foreign Affairs Committee that a US drone strike in North Waziristan at the beginning of November destabilized peace talks with militants.
“The US has now assured Pakistan that it will not launch any drone strike when talks with the Taliban are started,” Aziz said.
