Hezbollah condemned Friday the attempts to justify and cover the gangs' crimes in Tripoli, calling on the government to terminate these anomalies and to restore national peace and security.
In a statement, Hezbollah expressed complete solidarity with the victims and their families, considering that these criminal practices victimize the entire city.
The statement stressed the condemnation of the political conduct which incites extremism, rejects the state institutions, assaults the public freedoms and on the basic rights of the citizens and seeks to thwart the official security plans, undermining the prestige of the state and leading to instability.
“The criminal gangs are being offered political cover by the March 14 camp,” the statement read.
“The gangs opened fire at four municipal workers simply because they belong to a sect, which has incurred the wrath of those who claim civility and a love for life,” it added.
“The actions of the criminal gangs do not match with the city's originality and nationality and the good stance of its people,” it noted.
“The actions instead represent a great political desperation due to the failure in banking on changes on the ground. This Frustration is being reflected through such barbaric acts,” it added.
