Wave of Baghdad Area Bombings Kills 28

A wave of bombings mostly targeting neighborhoods and districts in and around Baghdad killed at least 28 people on Sunday.

A bomb in Tikrit left one officer killed in Madae'n area, with 11 civilians in Baghdad and around 40 others wounded.

In Waset, Police commander stated that 8 terrorists were arrested who were planning to carry out terrorist blasts on Arbaee'n of Imam Hussein (as) on December 24th.

In Nineveh, a Third Division force said that five armed men were arrested in the area of Ma'moun.

In Anbar province in western Iraq, a local security source said that the curfew imposed Saturday on the cities of Fallujah and Ramadi has been lifted, and that there is no need for it.

Police also said that the main road linking Baghdad with Falloujah an Anbar has been totally secured.

In the meantime, unidentified gunmen abducted 11 young men on the road between Tikrit and Tuz Khurmatu in Salahuddin province north of Baghdad.

A security source in Salahuddin province said that "unidentified gunmen set up a fake checkpoint on the road linking Tikrit to Tuz judicial Khurmatu. They kidnapped 11 young men and took them at gunpoint to an unknown destination."
