An explosive device hidden inside a bag was discovered on a public bus heading south from Tel Aviv into the nearby city of Bat Yam on Sunday afternoon, Haaretz reported.

A police sapper was lightly wounded after discovering the device on the No. 240 bus and trying to neutralize it, at which point it exploded.

It was not yet clear who planted the bomb, though police believe that it was attempted “terrorist attack”, the report said.

The last explosion on a Tel Aviv bus occurred last November, on the No. 142. At least 28 people were wounded in that incident.
