The Criminal Investigation Department referred Sheikh Salman to the public prosecutor after it ordered his advocate to leave.
A number of citizens gathered in front of Sheikh Salman's house after circulating the news about his arrest.
The regime troops have been till now oppressing the protest.
The Bahraini Criminal Investigation Department had summoned Saturday morning the Secretary General of al-Wefaq Association Sheikh Ali Salman to attend in the afternoon.
Al-Manar website was informed that a police force handed Sheikh Salman the summon request at his houses, without clarifying the reason of the summon.
The opposition sources considered that the summon may be due to the last speech of Sheikh Salman in Imam Sadek (AS) mosque and that it comes in the context of a personal targeting for Sheikh Salman.
It is worth to mention that Sheikh Salman has been summoned by the regime five times.
In June 22, 2012, Sheikh Salman also survived an assassination attempt.
