Two Palestinian resistance fighters were wounded on Thursday when an Israeli airstrike targeted them in the southern Gaza Strip.

"Two Palestinians were hit and injured by an Israeli drone while they were riding on a motorbike east of Khan Yunis," Gaza's health ministry spokesman Ashraf al-Qudra told AFP.

Palestinian security sources described the two as resistance fighters without saying to which group they belonged.

For its part, the occupation army confirmed the strike in a statement, claiming it had "intercepted terrorists during their final preparations to launch rockets towards Israel".

On Wednesday, an Islamic Jihad fighter was martyred near Gaza City in an Israeli drone strike.
