Syria’s official delegation, headed by al-Moallem held a meeting on Friday with the UN envoy to Syria Lakhdar Brahimi in Geneva.

Sources close to Syria’s official delegation said that al-Moallem informed Brahimi that the delegation is serious and ready to start seriously, but this doesn’t seem on the other delegation.

Sources close to the UN were quoted as saying that Brahimi described today’s meeting as “a half step which will be a complete step tomorrow.”

The sources added that al-Moallem also informed Brahimi that the international community has to bless what the Syrians agree upon, not what would be imposed from outside.

Other sources close to UN mentioned that al-Moallem told Brahimi that if serious work sessions didn’t start tomorrow, Syria’s official delegation would leave because the other side is not serious or ready, considering that “the Syrian stance is an attempt to pressure the others to be serious.”

In the same context, sources close to Brahimi said that the latter is searching for a common ground to be based on.
