Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian said the United States failed to reach its desired goals in the international peace conference aimed at ending the deadly conflict in Syria.
“The US logic, which was based on putting pressure on the Syrian opposition groups, could not yield favorable results,” Amir Abdollahian said on Thursday night, according to Fars news agency.
The Iranian official stressed it was clear for observers that talks would not be successful, because the delegation representing the opposition was not selected accurately.
He pointed to Washington’s efforts to turn the outcome of the talks to its own benefit.
“The US cannot change the political sovereignty in Syria through psychological warfare and propaganda.”
Syria has been grappled with a deadly turmoil since March 2011. The foreign-sponsored militancy in the Arab country has so far killed over 100,000 people and displaced millions of others.
