The United States condemned on Tuesday “in the strongest terms” the recent terrorist attacks that took place in Lebanon and targeted the eastern town of Hermel and the Choueifat neighborhood, south east of Beirut.

"The US extends deepest condolences to the victims and their families, the Lebanese people should not have to live in fear as they conduct their daily lives,” said State Department spokesperson Jen Psaki.

Psaki urged all Lebanese parties "to exercise restraint and refrain from contributing to the cycle of violence.”

Several people were martyred and injured in suicide bombings that targeted Hermel and Choueifat respectively on Saturday and Monday.
