Iran’s Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani made the remarks in Tehran on Wednesday during a meeting with Ramadan Abdullah Mohammad Shalah, secretary general of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad Movement.

Larijani further said that supporting Muslim nations, “particularly the rights of the oppressed people of Palestine,” remains one of the key policies of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

 “Defending the oppressed Palestinian people against the aggression and bullying of the Zionist regime under any circumstances is among the principled and fundamental policies [of Iran],” said Larijani.

The speaker also emphasized that hegemonic powers seek to weaken “the powerful reality of Islamic resistance in the region” and marginalize the principle of Palestinian liberation by sowing discord among Muslim nations and the groups that are committed to resistance against the Israeli enemy.

He then urged Islamic groups to remain united under the current circumstances.

For his part, Shalah expressed his gratitude to the Islamic Republic for its consistent support for the Palestinian Islamic resistance, saying, “Iran has always remained the key backer of the principles of Palestinian people.”

He also reiterated his organization’s commitment to continued resistance until the liberation of all Palestinian lands.
