Lebanese Stances Condemn Bir Hasan Twin Blasts

Prime Minister Tammam Salam said in a statement Wednesday that the twin blasts in Bir Hassan is a message by forces of terrorism saying they will proceed with their scheme in spreading death along the Lebanese territory.

The Premier said "amid the positive atmosphere that accompanied the birth of the government and left the Lebanese people satisfied, terrorism addressed a new blow to Lebanon through the bombing of a safe civilian area. This message reflects the insistence of the forces of evil to inflict injury to Lebanon and its sons and to sow the seeds of discord among citizens."

"The message has been delivered and we will respond through our solidarity and our adherence to civil peace. We will rally around our military institution and our security forces which have been given instructions to do whatever it takes in order to arrest saboteurs and bring them to justice," Salam concluded.

Former PM Saad Hariri condemned the twin blasts, saying, "If the aim of this terrorist attack is to tell the Lebanese that Lebanon will not be safe from terrorism after the formation of the government, we emphasize more than ever before the unity of the Lebanese stance against terrorism and against all the suspicious and condemned attempts to provoke discord and obstruct the ongoing efforts to protect stability."

Former Prime Minister Najib Mikati denounced the twin blasts which rocked Bir Hassan region on Wednesday, stressing that the painful events and the terrorist blasts demand an utmost level of unity and cooperation to overcome this critical phase.

Finance Minister Ali Hassan Khalil denounced Wednesday Bir Hassan bombings, calling to "the adoption of a national plan that involves all the security forces to combat terrorism."

Interior Minister Nouhad Mashnouk confirmed Wednesday that the cabinet is to take all serious security and political procedures to put an end to the suicide criminal phenomenon and to close the death crossings, pointing that all political forces must cooperate to close the death hotbeds which are found in the Bekaa region.
