Loyalty to Resistance parliamentary bloc convened on Thursday in a regular meeting on Thursday, with lawmakers maintaining that the efficacy of the newly-formed government highly depends on its capacity to curb terrorism.
Conferees rekindled stern condemnation of terrorist bombings in Beirut and Bekaa, highlighting the pressing need to launch a wide-ranging official and popular campaign to marshal utter and flat rejection of Takfiri terrorism. "The government is called to devise a national comprehensive plan for this purpose."
"The new political consensual government aims to guarantee a stable security climate," they said in a statement.
"We hope to draft a concise ministerial statement that would express the government's priorities in terms of politics, security, national defense, and the Resistance, as well as the socio-economic situation," they added.
"The real factor behind the success of the government is linked to fighting Takfiri terrorism and to the creation of a suitable climate to elect a new president of the republic," they continued.
They clarified that the new president must be the godfather of an all-inclusive national consensus likely to bolster national unity.
"The new president must also use regional and international ties in order to reinforce Lebanon," the bloc concluded.
