Former Lebanese President Amin Gemayel welcomed the positive stances of the senior Iranian officials, including that of Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, for interaction with other regional countries.
In a meeting with Iranian Ambassador to Beirut Ghadanfar Roknabadi on Friday in Beirut, Gemayel said: “The open doors of the Islamic Republic of Iran that is major role-player in the region deserves appropriate response of other regional countries.”
Gemayel, also Head of Lebanon’s Al-Kataeb Party, said that nuclear talks between Iran and the Group 5+1 (the five permanent UN Security Council members plus Germany) as well as Iran’s preparedness for transparency with regard to its nuclear activities is a good opportunity for regional and world countries.
“These negotiations will have immense influence on the region and it has created a new atmosphere of interaction in the region and the world which should be utilized,” the Lebanese politician said.
He pointed out that the atomic bomb does not have any justification in today’s world and the countries that have made several bombs by spending a lot of budget can never use it, but they should also spend a lot budget to neutralize them.
