Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and his Iraqi counterpart Hoshyar Zebari met in Tehran on Wednesday and called for expansion of bilateral relations in all areas.
 
During the meeting, Zarif hoped that Baghdad government would successfully restore sustained security in Iraq and make preparations for holding democratic national election throughout the country with participation of all political parties and ethnic groups.

He hailed efforts by Iraqi government in fighting terrorism.

The two foreign ministers also discussed bilateral cooperation on economy and trade as well as joint efforts to address environmental issues.

The Iraqi foreign minister, for his part, stressed the importance of Tehran-Baghdad ties in different areas, calling for enhanced consular cooperation.
