Rouhani: Iran Negotiator Won’t Overstep “Red Lines”

Iranian President Sheikh Hasan Rouhani voiced confidence that his administration will not cross Tehran’s “red lines” in the nuclear negotiations with the P5+1 group.

Talking before the 15th Summit of Iran’s Assembly of Experts in Tehran on Tuesday, President Rouhani stressed that the Islamic Republic would protect the nation’s peaceful nuclear rights in the course of the discussions with the six other countries.Sheikh Hasan Rouhani

He further described anti-Iran sanctions as unjust and wrongfully imposed, saying all the US-led bans against the Islamic Republic must be lifted under a final deal over Iran’s nuclear energy program.

“If our negotiating side also shows good will and political determination to resolve the [nuclear] issue in action, I believe we can reach a final deal in a short time, even in the first six months,” added the Iranian president.

Iran and the six world powers already reached an interim deal in Geneva in November, and their negotiation effort continues. They hope to reach a comprehensive deal in the next one year or so.

The next round of the talks between Iran and the six world powers are to be held in Vienna on March 17.

The meeting of Iran’s Assembly of Experts kicked off in the Iranian capital earlier on Tuesday. The body will hold talks on major national issues during the two-day event.
