Russia hopes that its western partners will have enough political wisdom and won't deepen a rift over Ukraine, Dmitry Peskov, Russian President Vladimir Putin's spokesman has said.
There are no signs of a new Cold War in relation to the Ukrainian crisis, Dmitry Peskov said in an interview to Ren-TV television.
"We do hope that we and our partners will have enough political wisdom and political sensibility to avoid futher deepening of the confrontation - ideological or any other - over the situation in Ukraine," Peskov noted.
He added that in spite of deep divisions with other countries, Russia does appreciate the ongoing cooperation with other countries. Answering a query who initiates talks between the Russian and US presidents more often, Peskov said: "It depends... They're agitated, we're agitated. It's only natural."
Peskov also stressed Russia is not the part to the conflict in Ukraine as "it's an internal problem".
