Turkey’s secret services are on alert after discovering that 25 trucks were stolen in November and December, stating fears that they could be used to carry out bombings.
This alarm comes after three Turkish security personnel were killed in the south-eastern province of Nigde by militants linked to the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) in Syria.
The suspects were travelling in a stolen truck when security forces attempted to stop them. The assailants were caught after opening fire and a number of weapons were found in their truck, according to the Worldbulletin website.
4 stolen trucks that entered Turkey from Syria are yet to be found, amid fears that they could be used for an attack.
The ISIL has reportedly threatened to attack the Turkish base in Syria's Aleppo and is believed to pose a threat to mainland Turkey.
