Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Ali Khamenei on Monday agreed to pardon or reduce prison terms of some 920 inmates, according to Iran’s state agency IRNA.
The move by the Supreme Leader was made in response to a proposal of Judiciary Chief Ayatollah Sadeq Amoli Larijani on the occasion of Farvardin 12 (April 1st) marking the Islamic Republic Day.
The day is celebrated by Iranians annually to commemorate the anniversary of establishment of the Islamic Republic in 1979.
