Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab-African Affairs Hussein Amir Abdollahian Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab-African Affairs Hussein Amir Abdollahian said on Tuesday that the Syrian crisis will not solved "militarily".

"Only political and democratic solutions are the key to solving the Syrian crisis," Abdollahian told a press conference at the Iranian embassy in Kuwait.

He said that Tehran has floated an initiative for solving the Syrian crisis during a recent visit by U.N.-Arab League Syria envoy Lakhdar Brahimi to Iran.

The Iranian diplomat said that his country is consulting with both Turkey and Qatar on the Syrian crisis, adding that Tehran will consult with other countries as Saudi Arabia.

Speaking about the Egyptian crisis, Abdollahian voiced hope that Egypt will return to the democratic path.

He opined that ousted president Mohammad Mursi had mistaken by failing to include all parties during his one-year rule.

Egypt has been dogged by instability since the military unseated elected Muslim president Mohamed Mursi last July.

Egyptian authorities have mounted a harsh crackdown on the Muslim Brotherhood, which propelled Mursi to power in 2012, arresting thousands of supporters and branded the group a "terrorist" organization.
