Palestinian PM in Gaza Ismail Haniyeh delivered a speech in presence of Hamas and Fatah leaders bracing national unity and emphasizing the importance of exececuting the agreement faithfully.
Palestinian Prime Minister in the Gaza Strip Ismail Haniyeh assured that “the next phase (of the reconciliation) is all about action”, and called on the Palestinians to “be ready for executing Cairo’s agreement in Gaza and the West Bank faithfully”.
In a speech he delivered Thursday at the “Rashad Al Shawa Cultural Center” in the presence of Hamas and Fatah leaders, Haniyeh emphasized the importance of national unity, stating that his government was ready to pay any price for accomplishing the reconciliation.
The Palestinian PM in Gaza indicated that
he will not be heading the next government. He stressed the importance of enhancing political, security, and administrative partnership, and regarding authority as a minor step in the path of liberation, establishment of a state with its capital Al Quds, and the return of refugees.
Furthermore, Haniyeh emphasized the necessity of managing resistance against the Zionist occupier saying that “we are seeking to avoid a new war on the Gaza Strip by agreeing on managing the resistance … We do not fear the occupation and its threats; but we never disregard them, we do not fear war but rather stay prepared for it”.
On the other hand, Haniyeh called on Egypt to safeguard the agreement and ensure its execution, and appealed to the Arab and Islamic worlds to financially support the Palestinians after Israel’s threats to cut off the delivery of Palestinian funds as punishment over the reconciliation.
On the international level, the Palestinian PM in Gaza demanded the International Community to respect the Palestinian people’s independent decision and unity.
