A citizen was killed and five others wounded due to terrorists mortar attacks against al-Mazzeh, Barzeh neighborhoods in Damascus.

A source at the Police Command told SANA that a mortar shell landed near the French School in al-Sheikh Saad area in al-Mazzeh, claiming one life and wounding another. The attack caused material damge in the site.

Maysoun al-Khateeb, who sustained injuries in the attack and was admitted to al-Mowassat Hospital, said that she was walking along the main road near the French School when the mortar fell.

Last December, terrorists attacked the French School with a mortar shell, inflicting material damage only.

Meanwhile, the source told SANA that a mortar shell fired by terrorists fell on a citizen's house in al-Mazzeh 86 neighborhood, wounding one citizen and causing material damage to the place.

Malek Salameh said he was near his house when he heard a loud explosion, only to find himself a while later in the hospital with shrapnel wound to his head.

The source pointed out that terrorists fired 3 shells which fell near the electric station and behind al-Abbas Mosque on Barzeh neighborhood, injuring 3 citizens, in addition to material damage to the site.

A terrorist mortar attack earlier on Wednesday on al-Fayhaa Sport Hall in Damascus claimed the life of a civilian and wounded two others on Wednesday.

SANA reporter quoted a Damascus Police Command source as saying that a mortar shell landed in the entrance of the sport hall's building, killing a citizen and injuring two others.

Material damage to a number of cars was reported as a second shell hit the city's garage.

This was not the first time al-Fayhaa sport hall was attacked as mortar shells hit the hall last September, killing member of the Syrian national Taekwondo team Mohammad Ali Nemeh was and injuring seven other citizens.

Terrorists' mortar shells claimed the lives of two citizens and injured seven others while they were participating in a funeral in Dama village to the west of Sweida city.

A source from Sweida Province said that the terrorists fired several mortar shells when the funeral procession was passing with the aim of killing the biggest number of victims.

Meanwhile, eight citizens were killed and 30 others wounded by terrorists' mortar shells fired on various areas in Jaramana and Harasta in Damascus countryside, according to a Damascus Countryside Police Command source.

The source told SANA reporter that 15 shells hit the neighborhoods of al-Homsi, al-Turbeh, al-Nassim, the old Municipality intersection, behind al-Radi Hospital and al-Siyouf square, claiming the lives of seven citizens and wounding 31 others and damaging a number of houses, cars and shops.

The source added that another mortar shell struck Abdullah Bin Omar Mosque in al-Kabbas neighborhood and damaged the minaret. No human causalities were reported.

A mortar that fell on Harasta suburb roundabout wounded three citizens, as another shell landed in Island D3 area causing material damage to several houses, with no casualties among citizens.

The External Clinics department at the Police Hospital was damaged due to a mortar round that struck into the department, causing no casualties.

Citizens were killed and others wounded in a spate of terrorist attacks on Jaramana, Harasta suburb and highway, and the Police Hospital that offers medical and health care services to citizens.
