Senior Iranian and Omani army commanders started the 11th session of Iran-Oman joint military committee in Omani capital, Muscat on Tuesday.

The meeting is due to focus on joint military cooperation previously agreed upon by the two sides.

The two sides will also discuss new agreements and explore ways to upgrade the level of bilateral cooperation.

The possibility of staging joint military drills and providing access to Iranian naval fleets which need to use Omani ports will also be discussed during the session.

The session comes a day after the naval forces of Iran and Oman started a joint rescue and relief marine drill in the Sea of Oman.
