Speaking at Iran-UAE Joint Economic Commission meeting in Abu Dhabi, Zarif said that the Islamic Republic of Iran and President Hassan Rouhani government attach special significance to brotherly ties with the UAE.
The Commission provides Iran and the UAE with an opportunity which paves the way for cooperation of the private and public sectors of both countries to find a roadmap for promotion of relations, Zarif said.
He hailed the resolve of officials in Tehran and Abu Dhabi to make use of all the capacities to cement bilateral ties.
Iran-UAE relations have always been very good and brotherly, Zarif said, adding that the two neighboring countries could grow into strategic allies in the region.
He cited mutual visits to Tehran and Abu Dhabi by foreign ministers of Iran and the UAE in the past few months as major steps forward.
The Iranian foreign minister said that trade between Iran and the UAE is significant compared to Iranˈs trade with other regional country. However he called for further increase in trade between the two countries.
Zarif referred to some 200 flights each week between Iran and the UAE as a sign of important relations between the two nations.
In the 8th meeting of Iran-UAE Joint Consular Commission, the two neighboring countries reached good agreements on fight against drug trafficking and organized crimes, Zarif said, adding implementation of the agreements would benefit both nations.
