Iran will send a deputy foreign minister to Egypt to set up an agenda for talks aimed at normalizing ties between the two countries.
Iran’s Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi said that "a deputy will go to Cairo in the near future to set up the meeting’s agenda".
Salehi pointed out that he is also scheduled to meet his Egyptian counterpart Nabil Al Arabi on the sidelines of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) meeting in Bali, Indonesia.
This comes as the Iranian news agency ISNA reported that both parts have discussed their countries’ bilateral relations in a phone call Monday.
Iran has cut its diplomatic relations with Egypt year 1980 when the latter signed a peace treaty with the Zionist entity; however the case changed after the fall of Hosni Moubarak’s regime in February.
